Gerhard Pretzl's collection
Pretzl is fascinated by the fact that the cut-out sheets are reliable witnesses of their respective times.
Among the sheets on display are those that could usually be bought for little money in stationery shops, but also pages from children's magazines.
A French manufacturer of "decoupages" advertised with the line:
"pour l'éducation des enfants et la tranquillité des parents", roughly translated as "for the education of children and the peace of mind of parents". Some of the sheets were very challenging to assemble,
so that the children were really kept busy for a while.
The exhibition features not only the original sheets, but also finished models made from copies.
