Drawings by Walter Diehm
28.04.2024 - 02.02.2025 ,
Museum KulturLand Ries (Museum KulturLand Ries)
Walter Diehm (*18.04.1943 † 05.04.2024) has been interested in the art of drawing since his school days. Born in Lenggries, he moved to Wallerstein with his family at the age of six and spent his childhood and youth there. His numerous works with motifs from the Nördlinger Ries show how much this time influenced him. Diehm, who lived in Aschaffenburg, returned time and again. He covered over 80,000 kilometres on his travels throughout Europe. The special thing about it: He enjoyed travelling on his Vespa, from which he could also make a sketch if required.
Walter Diehm's style is defined by quickly drawing sketches on the spot with a fineliner and then colouring in individual elements with watercolours. His drawings were often created in just a few minutes. He was not interested in depicting every detail in its perfection. He was much more interested in overall compositions and moods that he perceived at the moment of drawing.
The exhibition presents works from various phases of his artistic career: from oil paintings and felt-tip pen drawings to his typical watercolour fineliner works. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue of the same name. It shows the more than 70 works presented in the exhibition and is limited to 500 copies.
The special exhibition can be seen from 28 April 2024 to 2 February 2025 at the Museum KulturLand Ries.
