You are warmly invited to the opening on Sunday, 26 April 2026 at 2.00 pm.
In our new exhibition at Pflegschloss, entitled *Vielgestalt – Zweigestirn*, artists Werner Kimmerle and Bernd Thomas Zimmermann present their works in the fields of painting and sculpture. Our museum is open in April from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. In May and June, it will be open every Wednesday through to Sunday from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The exhibition runs until 28 June 2026.
Information:
Good drawings don’t need much: a sheet of paper, a line, an idea – and suddenly a whole world opens up. Visitors will encounter this sense of wonder in the exhibition ‘Vielgestalt – Zweigestirn’, in which two very different artistic approaches come together.
The drawings and etchings by Werner Kimmerle from Isny in the Allgäu are rich in detail, imagination and subtle humour. At first glance, they appear quiet and playful, yet on closer inspection, little stories emerge that hover between reality and imagination. With great draughtsmanlike precision and keen observation, Kimmerle invites us to take our time and discover ever-new details.
The sculptures in bog oak by Bernd Thomas Zimmermann, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and now works in Pöttmes, provide an intriguing contrast. This extraordinary wood, preserved in the bog for millennia, is among the rarest woods in the world. Since 1987, he has been creating his Moor Oak Cycle – a body of work that combines natural history, material and artistic form.
It is in this juxtaposition that both approaches reveal their unique impact: the lightness of the line meets the weight of the material; imagination and movement encounter stillness and concentration. This creates a dynamic dialogue between drawing and sculpture that invites visitors to explore and marvel.
