For Andreas Kuhnlein, the natural quality of the material wood is an essential component of his aesthetic statement. He creates his images of people with the chainsaw in a powerful and deliberately rough way. The cutting in, up and under fissures and dematerialises the former block of hardwood (elm or oak). In this way, cuts, protrusions, comminutions or grains become visible, while at the same time the natural structure and consistency of the material remain intact.

In addition to the conditions of the resistant material and the craft technique, Kuhnlein's wooden sculptures are also essentially the result of the spontaneity of his inspiration. Works of great independence are created that make the vulnerable human being tangible with all his brokenness but also his dignity.
