Accessories in lace
Lace from the collection of Marianne Stang
31.03.2025 - 07.09.2025 ,
Museum ehemalige Klöppelschule (Museum former lace school)
In the Tiefenbach lace-making school, built in 1912 and now the town hall, the museum exhibits examples of the textile craft of lace-making, which was recognised in 2016 with its inclusion in the Federal Register and the Bavarian State List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This shared cultural heritage connects the Tiefenbach bobbin lace circle with lace makers from the town of Sedlice in the Czech Republic. There has been a partnership between Tiefenbach and Sedlice for over 10 years. As part of an Interreg project between Tiefenbach and Sedlice supported by the "EUREGIO Bayerischer Wald - Böhmerwald - Unterer Inn e.V.", an exhibition of equal interest to Bavaria and Bohemia will be held in the former Tiefenbach Lace Making School Museum in 2025.
"Accessories in Lace - Lace from the Collection of Marianne Stang" will be presented on the occasion of the German Lace Making Congress in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. Marianne Stang, who died in 2020, collected outstanding lace for 40 years and was a recognised expert in historical lace.
Accessories were and still are an integral part of fashion today. These include fans, collars, bonnets, bags, handkerchiefs and aprons. Most accessories were a sign of luxury. The Marianne Stang collection includes examples of these fashion accessories adorned with lace.
