Tim Berresheim
Different at the moment
02.08.2025 - 26.10.2025 ,
MEWO Kunsthalle (MEWO Art Gallery)
The exhibition "Im Moment anders" offers insights into the work of Tim Berresheim, who makes the combination of analogue thinking and digital technology the starting point of his artistic work.
The interweaving of analogue and digital is not only the theme but also the method of his artistic practice. Berresheim's works are created from an interplay of drawing, photography, 3D modelling and algorithmic image processing - and open up visual worlds that are equally precise, playful, emotional and thought-provoking. They show how art, despite its digital reproducibility and countless distractions, can retain expressive power, relevance and critical potential.
How is art changing in a digitally permeated world? What role do software, computing power and digital tools play? And how do they relate to traditional artistic practices? The exhibition invites visitors to explore these questions and to scrutinise their own relationship to digital media.
Berresheim's works make it clear how technology can become a tool for artistic-critical dialogue beyond consumption and superficiality. The exhibition invites visitors to engage with this perspective, to allow themselves to be irritated and to experience art as a mirror, field of experimentation and commentary on a rapidly changing world. What seems irritating and different today could be the cultural standard tomorrow. Berresheim's art is like a bet on the future - it focuses on visual languages and ways of thinking whose time is perhaps yet to come and makes them tangible today.
Tim Berresheim (born 1975 in Wassenberg) is one of the most influential figures in computer-aided contemporary art. He studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Albert Oehlen and at the Braunschweig University of Art under Johannes Brus. His works are represented in important international collections.
