On 1 June, the Maximilianmuseum (Maximilian Museum) will open its new special exhibition "Silver Vault" with precious metalwork from the Renaissance to the present day. It will be on display in the Welserhalle on the ground floor for at least a year. The exhibition continues the tradition of the famous warehouses of the Augsburg silver merchants known as the "silver vaults", which were considered a major attraction of the imperial city in the 18th century. Among the fascinating works of precious metalwork by Augsburg and foreign artists are silver objects from the legacy of the collector and patron Kurt Viermetz, who would have been 85 years old this year.
