Life in Ancient Rome becomes a hands-on experience for young and old in this special exhibition! Large-format pictures, created using a special painting technique and an impressive 3D effect, bring Roman times to life in a special way. Stories from the Roman kitchen, from festive evenings and market stalls, but also from craftsmen and from the life of the legionaries are thus transformed into a very special exhibition experience.
A journey back in time to antiquity with your mobile phone
What makes it special: Visitors are part of the pictures in this exhibition and interact with them in an imaginative way. Playing pranks at school, holding the tiger in the arena or marching with the legionaries are just some of the many ways to immerse yourself in the world of Ancient Rome. There are no limits to your inventiveness!
Photography is expressly encouraged in this exhibition, indeed a must! Who can take the most creative picture of themselves and their friends in Roman times? So get your smartphones out and snap away! Of course, the results can also be shared with everyone on Facebook, Instagram and the like.
Cambodunum is alive!
The exhibition tour begins with a virtual flight over the Roman city of Cambodunum, which impressively shows how Kempten was laid out as a planned city on a high terrace above the river. Original artefacts and objects from Cambodunum build a bridge to the real past. For example, a rotary mill shows how grain was ground into flour in Cambodunum or how statuettes of gods served as lucky charms. Hands-on stations invite visitors to immerse themselves in everyday Roman life: Roman streets can be laid out, bridges built and mills played with.
"Rome Lives" is an entertaining hands-on exhibition about life in a Roman city that will leave you wanting more.
