Transitional objects

Christine Rath

Luftmuseum Amberg (Amberg Air Museum)

Christine Rath's relief paintings, consisting of flexible, easily mouldable foam material, are a further development of her paintings and represent the preliminary stage to her sculptures.

As so-called "transitional objects" (a term borrowed from psychoanalysis), they are part of a transformation and thus the change towards sculpture as an independent form. The surface of the artworks resembles porcelain, ceramics or glass. The variety of painterly gestures and techniques arise from a constant artistic intuition and often create a moment of recognition. This is reminiscent of the phenomenon of mimicry known from nature - the imitation or appropriation of a foreign appearance.

Christine Rath studied costume and stage design at the AdBK Munich, as well as visual design and art therapy at the IKT Munich. In addition to project commissions for theatre stages, the artist is also represented in solo and group exhibitions and art fairs, including ART MUC (Munich), Haus der Kunst (House of art) (Munich) and Kunstmesse Karlsruhe, to name but a few.

The exhibition is located in the Gothic house chapel.
