Amorphous systems

Anna Myga Kasten's work can be described as an experimental process that significantly influences the design of the form. It is extremely important to the artist not to depict anything that is already in her imagination, but to create a work that is based on a certain momentum of its own in its creation, as well as openness to chance.
Two factors are decisive for the development of the large-format and predominantly expansive installations: the work material and the space in which the object is created. Used materials such as rubber, tarpaulins, foils, textiles and paper are usually used to study the ambivalent interplay of feasibility and borderline experience, which are processed into moulded shells and filled with air, water, sawdust or foam. The resulting bizarre, abstract and seemingly amorphous sculptures form a surreal, sensual spatial backdrop.
Anna Myga Kasten studied sculpture and spatial installation at the HBK Braunschweig. In addition to her studio and exhibition venues, the artist also works as a stage designer on the backdrops and workshops of renowned theatre stages.
