Hello, my name is Kunstbau
26.06.2025 - 03.08.2025 ,
Lenbachhaus
- Ticket shop.
- Museum café.
- Shop.
I am a space with many possibilities.
You already know me as an exhibition space? I'm going to try something new and become an experiment.
Is this an exhibition? Perhaps. But without ready-made answers. Because what happens here is a process - through joint action, research and design. The space is constantly changing because we use it together, try it out, rethink it.
Together with artists, mediators, collectives, visitors, associations and initiatives, we develop new ideas as a museum. They all bring their own themes and working methods to the table and speak for themselves. At the same time, we work together on concepts for the museum, pick up on impulses and react to each other.
For us, working with and on this space therefore means: inviting, bringing together, accompanying. We create a framework in which different perspectives are possible. This also means that we react to developments and do not plan everything in advance. Many concepts emerge in the process - with the space and those involved.
What makes a museum inviting for different people? How can we share knowledge? What do the spaces in which we meet, exchange ideas and get involved look like?
Together with you, we will build, read, stroll and discover. We try things out, change, discuss, write. We make music, invent, think, reject. We drink coffee, play, dance, practise, explore, talk, relax. We sleep, improvise, create and come together.
What ideas have we not yet thought of that a museum needs?
After these weeks in the Kunstbau, we will redesign the education rooms in the Lenbachhaus. We see what is happening here in the Kunstbau as a test. We are looking at what works, what is missing, what remains. The space changes over time. We are documenting the experiences so that we can continue to think about them and take them back to the museum in the long term.
You can take part in workshops or try things out independently at individual stations. Bring people with you, meet up for a drink. Or just drop by, have a rest and look around.
There will be a separate website for the project and programme. Stay tuned!
The project opens on 25.6. with an all-day programme of events.
Free admission, opening hours Tuesday-Sunday 2-8 pm.
Concept and realisation: Mona Feyrer, Annabell Lachner and Wen-Ling Chung
