To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the artist Michael Mathias Prechtl (1926–2003), the Kunstvilla is dedicating a single-room exhibition to his multifaceted portraiture from 28 March to 5 July 2026. On display will be works from the Kunstvilla’s own collection as well as selected loans from the City of Nuremberg’s Graphic Arts Collection.
The exhibition spans two decades of his artistic career: from his engagement with Rembrandt, through the portrait of Wilhelm Schwemmer, the long-standing director of the art collections, to that of honorary citizen Hermann Kesten, Prechtl’s keen sense of character and the spirit of the times is revealed.
