Richard Frater

Off season

28.01.2023 - 23.04.2023 ,
Kunstverein München (Munich Art Association)

  • Museum café.
  • Shop.

Richard Frater develops his works along the fragility inherent in the relationships between organisms and their built environment. In his first institutional solo exhibition Off season, the New Zealand artist addresses Kunstverein München (Munich Art Association) and its building as a (supposedly) public space by means of various interventions. Based on the architecture and locality of the building as well as an interest in the (de)privatisation of space, Frater develops new works that extend from the regular exhibition spaces into their periphery - the attic and the surrounding parks - thus enabling new perspectives inside and outside the institution.
