It took more than 135 years for an almost forgotten piece of German industrial culture and innovative spirit to return to the limelight.
The faithful reconstruction of the "Coburg Electric Car 1888 by Andreas Flocken" is the centrepiece of a small special exhibition. It pays tribute to Coburg-based mechanical engineer Andreas Flocken, who pioneered electric-powered vehicles in 1888 – long before the combustion engine-powered car began its triumphant advance. It is part of the history of mobility from the carriage to today's modern electric car: Flocken's electric car is considered the world's first four-wheeled electric car.
