"Court dwarf" Ruppert, also known as Rupprecht, was a man of small stature in the service of Duke Johann Casimir of Saxe-Coburg. With his personal armour, the Kunstsammlungen of the Veste Coburg (Art Collections of the Coburg Fortress) possess a special treasure. Made in the late 16th century, the fully functional armour is almost one metre in size and consists of more than two hundred individual elements.

Its restoration and assembly on a new, more dynamic figurine offered new insights and knowledge about its design and history. In addition to the extraordinary armour, the studio exhibition also presents other "court dwarfs" of the duke, of whom Ruppert was not the only one to be equipped with armour.
