Acting without a commission is an internal logic of the freelance profession of artists.

In the exhibition "Unknown", Benedikt Gahl describes the necessity of (artistic) self-determination. To what extent will and can the unknown still be visible in 2025? This question about the visible also contains a critique of a cultural policy of representation. Here, the unknown is juxtaposed with the new and technically innovative and understood as an investment in artistic methods that (further) educate us. What do I recognise on the canvases, what is this unknown? It becomes an invitation to see and think differently. Disagreeing with the reality of our time can be an opportunity to find new forms.
