The Art of Diversity

With “The Art of Diversity”, the Hundertwasser Art Forum focuses on a central aspect of his artistic practice: printmaking. Hundertwasser mastered classical techniques such as lithography, screen printing and etching, as well as innovative processes, which he expanded to include photolithography, embossed printing and fluorescent colours. Working closely with printers, he created complex works of exceptional luminosity, tactile depth and ever-changing colour variations.
For the first time, the exhibition offers a comprehensive glimpse behind the scenes of Hundertwasser’s original prints. On display are printing blocks, design plates, handwritten notes, photographs and proofs that bring to life the experimental and multi-layered creative process behind his works. The exhibition illustrates how Hundertwasser understood printmaking as an art form in its own right – as a realm of boundless diversity that the painter’s brush alone cannot achieve.
