Wood sculpture
Sculptures & Objects
18.01.2026 - 08.03.2026 ,
Kunstmuseum Erlangen (Erlangen Art Museum)
Funny rabbits, oversized everyday objects, figures of saints, even Dürer as a nude based on his famous self-portrait or a room installation with logs: the fascination of working with wood as a material and experimenting with it seems almost limitless at the moment. Wood sculpture has undergone rapid and diverse development in recent decades. Contents such as portraits, nudes or genre depictions, forms of processing with the chisel or the chainsaw and stylistically from fine to expressive - the forms of representation are very broadly diversified from figurative to abstract. The exhibition offers an intensive encounter with sculptures and objects by Christoph Bäuml, Hermann Frauenknecht, Horst Georg Heidolph, Clemens Heinl, Harald Kienle, Gerhard Nerowski, Nadine Elda Rosani, Stefan Schindler and Franz Weidinger.
