Alex Müller. Until time passes

Kunsthalle im KunstKulturQuartier Nürnberg (Art Gallery in the KunstKulturQuartier Nuremberg)
With Bis die Zeit vergeht (Until Time Passes), Alex Müller has developed a specific exhibition for the eight skylight rooms of the Kunsthalle Nürnberg, because the dramaturgy of the rooms seems particularly suited to visualising the artist's complex cosmos. They serve the artist as a kind of archive and offer the possibility of sorting, weighting and thematising what is relevant. Thus, the artist names the exhibition spaces after places and thus after central stations in her biography: from the village of Huchem-Stammeln near Düren to Los Angeles and Carcassonne to the Berlin district of Neukölln, where the artist lives today. The architecture does not dictate a goal-oriented passage through the rooms. Each of the rooms of the Kunsthalle Nuremberg has a new orientation as well as characteristic proportions, and each of the rooms leads us further and further through an architecture that is integrated into the historical city wall of Nuremberg. Alex Müller skilfully thematises this specific spatial structure by repeatedly making the exhibition visitors walk in front of barriers, defining alternative routes or provoking detours through installation interventions.
