46th East Allgäu Art Exhibition

With the annual Ostallgäu Art Exhibition, the town of Marktoberdorf offers artists from Bavarian Swabia the opportunity to present themselves to a wider audience in a museum setting.

The exhibition focuses entirely on the promotion of contemporary regional art. The unique architecture of the Künstlerhaus by Bearth and Deplazes plays a special role. In interaction with the building, art unfolds a very individual, site-specific, sometimes surprising intensity and creates completely new, unusual fields of tension. The exhibition serves the lively exchange between the artists themselves and with the public - in other words, the dialogue about art as a whole, about their ideas, their content or their vision for and in society.

The Ostallgäu Art Exhibition enjoys a high reputation and a special status far beyond the borders of Marktoberdorf. The three prizes awarded each year by the high-calibre jury are a special incentive for the artists: the "Johann-Georg-Fischer Art Prize" of the town of Marktoberdorf (3,000 euros), the "Special Prize of the Franz Schmid Foundation" (2,500 euros) and the "Paul Breitkopf Family Prize" (2,000 euros).
