In "Flora", the goddess of blossom lends her name to various artistic creations that center around plant life. Flowers and their blossoms have characterised the history of art for centuries and symbolise beauty and transience, love and death. Selected examples from photography, painting and conceptual art are used to show excerpts from nature: carefully composed and staged photographic moments are juxtaposed with still lifes painted in the manner of the old masters as well as spontaneous gestural abstractions. Hand-pollinated flowers preserved in honey are contemporary witnesses to the environmental destruction of our time.
