14.03.2025 - 06.06.2025 ,
Klostermuseum Ursberg mit Klosterbibliothek (Ursberg Monastery Museum with Monastery Library)
The monastery town of Ursberg is celebrating its 900th anniversary in 2025 with a special exhibition from 14 March to 6 June. Designed by Holger Lauerer, the exhibition in St Josef's House shows the development of the first Premonstratensian monastery in southern Germany from its foundation in 1125 by Provost Ulrich I to the present day at 16 stations. Topics include the monastery's influence on culture, education and the economy, important personalities such as Norbert von Xanten and Burchard von Ursberg, the Swedish Wars and secularisation in 1802.
The acquisition by Dominikus Ringeisen in 1884 and the founding of the St Joseph's Congregation in 1897 are also highlighted. Pupils from Ringeisen Grammar School have created a section of the exhibition and offer guided tours for children. An extensive supporting programme with specialist lectures, special tours and church services accompanies the exhibition, which ends with a finissage on 6 June.
The exhibition is located on the ground floor in the cloister of the monastery.
