MECHANICAL ANIMAL WORLD
After acquiring a small old tin duck and a similar penguin, the Berlin photographers and exhibition organisers Sebastian Köpcke and Volker Weinhold decided to establish themselves as animal photographers with their own exhibition. However, they did not go out into the wild, but brought together a comprehensive collection of historical tin animals, which they seemingly restored to their natural habitat in artfully staged images.
In addition to the large-format photographs, the special exhibition shows more than 220 original objects (1900-1980) from international manufacturers. The wide variety of species is astonishing, from the native animal world to African, tropical and Arctic fauna. The "Mechanical Animal World" brings back memories for the grown-ups and amazes the little ones.
