Kallmann-Museum Ismaning (Kallmann Museum Ismaning)
To mark his 90th birthday, the Kallmann Museum is showcasing the work of the Munich-based painter Friedrich G. Scheuer (born 1936). Scheuer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1959 to 1963, but dropped out and subsequently developed his own individual style as a painter and draughtsman. Scheuer was a member of the ‘Neue Gruppe’, an association of visual artists in Munich.
Taking colour as his starting point, he explores – amongst other things in large-format paintings – the processes and structures of microbiology, which he brings to life in his abstract paintings without depicting them in a representational sense. In his more recent, dynamic colour paintings, he also explores the diverse possibilities of how colour interacts in different layers and dynamic constellations. Scheuer is concerned with a sensory, aesthetic experience of the image that transcends the conceptual.
