Duke Max Emanuel in Bavaria, known as Mapperl, was born in Munich on 7 December 1849, 175 years ago. He married Amalie of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in 1875. The special exhibition deals with the fate of the couple, who died far too young, and their three sons, who grew up as orphans. Their lives are also thematised.
A slide show complements the small special exhibition, which is included in the admission price.
