Käthe-Kruse-Puppen-Museum (Käthe Kruse Doll Museum)
Donauwörth is getting a new museum! An exhibition at the Käthe Kruse Doll Museum marks the start of this exciting journey, which is designed to involve the local community too. What makes Donauwörth special? What issues matter to us? What does the new museum need to be engaging and welcoming? Visitors can share their thoughts, wishes and ideas as part of the exhibition.
The journey towards the new museum will be accompanied by a series of exhibitions offering a glimpse behind the scenes and showcasing special items from the museum’s collection. It all kicks off with the ‘Venus-Roller’, a motor scooter manufactured in Donauwörth in the 1950s and now a rarity among classic vehicles.
In addition to a rich town history, Donauwörth also boasts a unique collection of Käthe Kruse dolls, which attracts visitors from all over the world. For the first time, the exhibition presents a complete shop window display featuring Käthe Kruse dolls from the Munich department store Obletter, dating from 1939, which was donated to the museum in 2025 by a centenarian lady from Barcelona. The story behind it tells a piece of contemporary history.
