Donauwörth is getting a new museum! An exciting journey begins with a studio exhibition at the Käthe Kruse Doll Museum, which will also involve local residents. What makes Donauwörth special? What topics are important to us? What does the new museum need to be exciting and inviting? Visitors can contribute their thoughts, wishes and ideas to the exhibition.
The path to the new museum will be accompanied by a loose series of exhibitions that offer a glimpse behind the scenes and present special objects from the museum's depot. The series will start with the "Venus Roller", a motor scooter that was manufactured in Donauwörth in the 1950s and is now a rarity among vintage vehicles.
In addition to its rich city history, Donauwörth also has a unique collection of Käthe Kruse dolls that attracts visitors from all over the world. For the first time, the exhibition presents a complete shop window display with Käthe Kruse dolls from the Munich department store Obletter from 1939, which was donated to the museum in 2025 by a centenarian lady from Barcelona. The story behind it tells a piece of contemporary history.
