To mark the 25th anniversary of the Jüdisches Museum Franken in Fürth (Jewish Museum Franconia in Fürth), the JMF has been taking critical stock since last year. The exhibition series "Shitstorm. Meinungsstreit im Museum" exhibition series recalls controversial topics and exhibitions that have had a lasting impact on the museum and its surroundings with the final instalment "Of robbery, restitution and myths of tolerance".
With Shitstorm, the Jewish Museum Franconia not only looks back on its own history, but also addresses the question of how museums can deal with social conflicts, the culture of remembrance and historical interpretations: What impact have the debates had and where does the museum stand today?
