Yiddish was spoken in Bavaria for around eight centuries. "Boazn", "Kaff" or "schmusen" - many words still remind us today of the close coexistence of Jewish and non-Jewish people in Swabia. The exhibition invites you to discover the traces of an almost forgotten language.

Yiddish was spoken, written and printed: from medieval Yiddish heroic stories to modern pop culture, from Yiddish as a language of prayer to Yiddish kitsch - the exhibition presents Yiddish as a living language between cult and culture.

The interactive exhibition for everyone from 0 to 120 years of age invites you to join in in many places! With examples from Augsburg, Swabia and all over the world - with stations for listening, reading, seeing, touching and trying out - it is aimed at anyone who is curious about an old, new language.
