Nighthawks
Exhibition Lukas Troberg

Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia (International artists' house Villa Concordia)
In his exhibition, current Villa Concordia fellow LUKAS TROBERG presents new text-based works that explore the themes of human hubris and the fleeting nature of our dreams.
At the centre of the exhibition are the monumental kinetic sculpture "GODS" and the diptych "nighthawks". The lettering "GODS", which spans an area of a good 4.5 metres, rotates around its own axis at an almost ghostly slowness of one revolution per 24 hours, exactly the same amount of time it takes the earth to complete a full rotation. The diptych "nighthawks" consists of two text works on baryta paper with black bars running through them, obscuring parts of the content and making them seemingly unrecognisable. But a closer look reveals that the minimal transparency of the bars allows the text to shine through, as if revealing a hidden knowledge that can only be recognised through close observation.
