To mark the 200th anniversary of Ludwig I's accession to the throne, the Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte (House of Bavarian History) invites visitors to travel back in time to the 19th century: a time of change, contradictions and new beginnings. Particularly noteworthy: the Wittelsbach monarch did not end his term of office with his death, but resigned voluntarily in 1848. What led Ludwig to resign from office? Was it really just his much-discussed relationship with the dancer Lola Montez?

At the Old Court in Munich, large colourful picture flags offer insights into the eventful reign of Ludwig I.

Where can I find the right museum for my own interests? When is the house open? What exhibitions are currently running? Is there a children's programme? There is one place to go for these questions...
