Gabriele Gruber-Gisler (born in 1960 in Wels, Upper Austria) is a trained ceramist and freelance artist living in Ried im Traunkreis.
Gabriele Gruber’s diverse body of work, for which she has received numerous awards, is characterised by a reduction to the fundamental symbols of life. Since the 1990s, she has engaged intensively with socio-political and ecological issues, often using unconventional materials and techniques – ranging from ceramics and architectural art to installations.
Under the title ‘Bread and Roses’, Gabriele Gruber-Gisler presents a powerful installation dedicated to socio-political themes. The title refers to the world’s first women’s demonstration in America in 1912, which protested against appalling working conditions and famine and has since stood as a symbol of women’s resistance.
The artist conveys her messages through everyday yet highly symbolic objects.
