The newly arranged exhibition tells of the commitment of Bamberg's citizens to the well-being of their city, of new ideas and the changing tastes in art.
Portraits show important personalities from Bamberg's bourgeoisie. The artefacts from the Schmidt Porcelain Painting Institute in Bamberg are of supra-regional importance. These are predominantly valuable porcelain pictures based on masterly paintings from the Renaissance to the 19th century. Furniture, musical instruments, vessels, utensils, textiles and jewellery from the Biedermeier period complete the picture.
A further room on 20th century civic culture is dedicated to the Bamberg Deis family and the museum foundation established by them.
