Historisches Museum Bamberg (Bamberg Historical Museum)
In its studio exhibition at the Historisches Museum Bamberg (Bamberg Historical Museum), the Historischer Verein Bamberg (Bamberg Historical Society) exhibits highlights of its extensive collections. In future, as part of a new concept, different objects will be regularly brought into focus in order to do justice to the diversity and significance of the rich holdings.
Founded on 8 July 1830, the association today has almost 900 members. It deals with the history of the former High Diocese of Bamberg from prehistory to contemporary history. Among other things, the association owns a large collection of art and cultural history objects. Especially during the first 40 years of the association's history, numerous donations were received, mainly from the wealthy circle of the population: prehistoric finds, coins and medals, manuscripts and books, graphics, paintings and art objects. At present, the association's primary concern is the restoration and cataloguing of its extensive collection. Parts of the collection are kept by the museums of the city of Bamberg and are included in the exhibitions of the Historisches Museum Bamberg (Bamberg Historical Museum).
