A miniature empire

Roman Oettingen and its surroundings

10.05.2026 - 06.01.2027 ,
Heimatmuseum Oettingen (Museum of local history Oettingen)

The exhibition focuses on the Losodica fort (Munningen), the roadside settlement of Oettingen, and the farmsteads in the vicinity of these two sites. Drawing on research reports, but above all on finds and artefacts, the exhibition aims to paint a picture of the Raetian province as it appeared during the Roman Empire – the period from around 50 to 260 AD. We explore everything from the small to the large, from fragments to the whole, and from the province to the empire.
