Moritz Holfelder ∙ Almost wet
14.03.2026 - 28.06.2026 ,
Haus der Fotografie Dr. Robert-Gerlich-Museum (House of Photography Dr. Robert Gerlich Museum)
Moritz Holfelder has been photographing waves and the surface of the water since he was ten years old. The subjects have remained the same, but he has developed a perspective all his own: Holfelder explores the rhythm of the swell, studies currents and has developed a keen sense of the spray. From the shore, he reveals the menacing forces of the oceans and depicts the sea as a living organism that seems to breathe as the surf surges and breaks. His images allude to the mythical relationship between humans and water – the figures in the pictures appear tiny and defenceless in the face of the sea’s elemental force.
Alongside vagues wellen waves, photographs from the series Membran and Schiffe an Land are also on display.
Exhibition dates: 14 March – 14 June 2026, extended until 28 June 2026
