The exhibition shows works on paper from the current production of three artists. The exhibition is conceived and organised by the Gesellschaft für Gegenwartskunst e.V. (GfG Augsburg) in the Kabinett rooms of H2 - Zentrum für Gegenwartskunst im Glaspalast (H2 - Center for Contemporary Art at the Glaspalast) in Augsburg.
Andreas Breunig (*1983, Eberbach) explores the potential of non-representational drawing by means of precise compositional arrangements. His dynamic, sometimes expressive gestures appear free, yet equally well thought-out and testify to the artist's highly focussed conceptual approach to his material. The constant variation of the elements of a depiction coagulates on the picture support into a precise arrangement of simultaneous surface phenomena, of codes that the artist has encoded in his drawings.
Jana Schröder (*1983, Brilon) creates her graphic works meticulously and often serially. Her compositions of smooth areas of colour and dynamic brushstrokes form a multi-layered network that approaches or recedes from the viewer. This depth effect is created by subtle variations of a few colour tones, which she uses as organic surfaces or dynamic gestures. Schröder's drawings reflect process, repetition, slowness and speed.
Peppi Bottrop (*1986, Bottrop) creates non-representational works that oscillate between construction and dissolution. His compositions consist of vibrating, overlapping lines that form wave-like movements. Speed, energy and movement become visible and tangible. The picture surface becomes a stage for improvised abstraction, reminiscent of an alchemical experiment or a natural phenomenon.
