Glasmuseum Frauenau (Frauenau Glass Museum)

In the cabinet of the glass museum, the "Historical Frauenau" takes you back in time. In 1324, the Benedictine monk Hermann settled as a hermit on the northern slope of the Flanitz Valley. He built a simple cell and laid the foundation stone for the village of Frauenau. A glassworks was first mentioned in a document in 1492. Since then, glass has been a determining factor in the village. Frauenau remained a small town for a long time. It was in the 20th century that rapid development began. Today Frauenau is a municipality with a lively community and club life and a popular holiday resort in the Bavarian Forest National Park.
In the exhibition, documents, maps, historical views and many rare objects from the areas of church, glass, associations and much more illustrate Frauenau's history.
