Impressionism travelled many paths - some of which led via Munich and Dachau to Slovenia. Around 1900, young Slovenian artists found new inspiration in the vibrant art city of Munich and in the Dachau artists' colony. Here, where light and landscape took centre stage, they discovered a form of painting that left realism behind and led to impressive, colourful pictorial worlds.
For the first time in Germany, the exhibition presents high-calibre works of Slovenian Modernism - from impressionist landscapes and haunting portraits to paintings that make personal and social upheavals visible.
An exhibition of the Gemäldegalerie Dachau and the National Gallery of Slovenia in cooperation with the Slovenian Cultural Centre SKICA Berlin.
