Markus Oehlen

Markus Oehlen (*1956 in Krefeld), once a Junger Wilder, an underground movement par excellence and snotty rebel of the Golden Eighties, is now much more reflective. More than three decades have passed since his days of unbound indomitability. However, Oehlen has retained his wild side, channelled it into a new direction, made it modern and zeitgeisty, compressed, corrected, subversively systematised, congenially ingenious.
His works testify to a sophisticated approach, a know-how of technology and efficiency, an unbridled joy of experimentation and an intensive examination of society, digitalisation and its effects; everything flows into, into and out of each other.
