Tableware : Last chance

As spring turns to summer, the longest days of the year approach and meals no longer take place only indoors, but also outside on terraces, in gardens or on balconies - then the table setting takes centre stage in our everyday lives. We come together at the table, celebrate, discuss, savour, laugh and cry, munch and sip. We are taking this as an opportunity to celebrate the theme of "table culture" in all its facets in the third exhibition in the annual cycle of Galerie Handwerk (Gallery Craft).

We are shedding light on the broad spectrum of what table culture can mean today - and the role that craftsmanship plays in this. From stylish dinners to uncomplicated garden parties, from luxurious ambience to functional everyday aesthetics, from Michelin-starred cuisine to casual fast-food moments: dining culture takes place everywhere - and is always characterised by the things we use and that surround us. Whether in the open air or at a festively laid table, you will find everything that makes up table culture in this exhibition: bowls and glasses, cutlery, crockery and table textiles, furniture and surprising presentations. Made of glass, wood, ceramic, silver or fabric, they reflect the diversity of craftsmanship and everyday enjoyment.

Classic design meets artistic concepts, fine materials meet functional solutions, traditional manufacturing techniques meet contemporary design and application. The exhibition will also be a lively place of exchange: in addition to renowned craftspeople, pupils and students from technical colleges and universities will also showcase their work - with a fresh bite and bold ideas.
