Sponsorship award of the BBK Munich and Upper Bavaria

Last year, the professional association announced the "Förderpreis des BBK München und Oberbayern" for the first time in a three-stage competition. From over 100 digitally submitted documents, the exhibition committee initially selected 14 applicants to present their works in the preselection exhibition "Tacker" in the artists' gallery in July 2024 - this "shortlist presentation", which until the year before last showed artists for the exhibition series "Debutants" and "The First Years of Professionalism", has developed into a public favourite over the past 12 years and has now established itself as an independent, attractive exhibition format with a four-week duration.
In a second jury meeting within the "Tacker" exhibition, the three finalists Stefan Holzmair, Frida Kato and Kristina Schmidt were selected from the 14 entries to be shown together in the spacious rooms of the gallery from 13 May 2025 - with an appropriate fee and production budget - but curated as solo exhibitions. The high quality of the many contributions to "Tacker" consistently demonstrate the great potential of local art production and did not make it easy for the jury to decide on three candidates for the award.
The exhibition committee will finally select the winner in a third jury meeting on site and award them with prize money currently amounting to € 2,500 from association funds at the finissage on 6 July 2025. The association is endeavouring to increase the prize money in the coming years with the support of private sponsors, but it is important that the three final selected artists are given the opportunity to have a solo exhibition at the same time and that they are provided with appropriate production and fee conditions totalling € 1,800 each in order to find the best possible working conditions for their exhibition.
