Printed Matter
11.03.2025 - 03.05.2025 ,
Galerie der Künstler*innen (Gallery of the Artists)
Graphics in art, small-format, black and white, presented in cabinets or fine frames, available in editions, precious but affordable. Not so in the exhibition PRINTED MATTER.
14 artists declare the rules of printmaking to be outdated, explore old boundaries and break new ground. Printmaking becomes three-dimensional, appears unique, weaves itself into the performative, floats effortlessly between analogue and digital, presents itself confidently in large formats, mixes with other media. What can a lithograph do, what can a woodcut do, what forms does etching take, what contribution does risography make today? Why has no one ever been interested in the printing blocks themselves? What significance does paper actually have as an elementary carrier of colour?
