The works of textile artist Susanne Winter and sculptor Carsten-Caren Lewerentz in the exhibition "Becoming" stand for change, transformation and development and for the question of identity: Who am I? And: What am I?
Carsten-Caren Lewerentz's sculptures and sculptures show discarded clothing in wood and bronze. They symbolise empty, abandoned human shells that can be followed by change and something new. They are also examples of the personal unfolding of identity. For Carsten-Caren Lewerentz, each textile, as a second skin of the human being, forms a connecting line between inner and outer being. From the personal disharmony between body and inner being, the piece of clothing became an existential expression of the sculptor's art.
Susanne Winter works with a sewing machine and embroidery needle on paper for her material-emphasised colour landscapes. Through the back and forth of the threads, through condensation and knotting, thread drawings with coloured surfaces and catchy forms are created. In her new works, she experiments with natural colours she obtains herself from plants, roots and leaves and transfers them to paper by pouring them on. Direction and chance alternate in the flow of colours. Traces of paths and detours emerge as a symbol of becoming.
Part of the exhibition is a large, participatory embroidered picture by the artist, which visitors can help to create.
