Everyday treasures
Museum history in objects

Freilichtmuseum Glentleiten des Bezirks Oberbayern (Glentleiten open-air museum of the district of Upper Bavaria)
- Museum café.
- Shop.
The exhibition "AlltagsSchätze" (Everyday Treasures) uses selected objects from the museum's collection to tell exciting and touching stories about the people who once owned them. For example, an archaic-looking dugout canoe from Lake Starnberg, over 7.5 metres long, is on display, as is a "Marterl" (wayside shrine) that bears witness to the tragic death of a mountain farmer's wife.
Visitors can also learn more about how the collection was created and continues to grow, as well as which objects were particularly dear to the people of the region. Such items were more likely to be preserved and are therefore found in greater numbers in the Glentleiten collection – for example, the Lourdes Madonnas of all sizes on display in the exhibition.
In the entrance area of the exhibition, a floor-to-ceiling display case with a wealth of selected pieces impresses visitors, highlighting five decades of Glentleiten on the one hand and the museum team itself on the other: In addition to a hair picture commemorating a young deceased woman, which was the first object to be added to the collection, visitors can also discover the now historic tools of the museum craftsmen and an aid to house research that appears curious at first glance.
In the entrance area of the presentation, visitors are invited to participate and can present their favourite places at Glentleiten in a profile.
