Over 5,000 years ago, Europe was undergoing a period of great change: people were using ‘red gold’ – copper – to make better tools, invented the wheel, the cart and the plough, and opened up new trade routes. It was during this very era that the most famous person of the Stone Age lived: Ötzi.
The special exhibition “Ötzi – In Pursuit of Red Gold” at the Franconian Switzerland Museum takes visitors back to the Copper Age, around 3300–3000 BC. Alongside Ötzi’s Alpine world, you will also learn about the people who lived in what is now Germany at the same time.
