From simple storage containers to elaborately designed advertising media: boxes are the constant companions of our everyday lives - often overlooked, rarely appreciated. The exhibition puts this inconspicuous object centre stage and shows over 300 exhibits from different centuries and areas of application.
In addition to classic examples, such as toy boxes that have accompanied generations of children or field post boxes that kept us in touch with our homeland in times of war, there are also unusual and curious objects: such as a playful box in the shape of a rabbit, a box made from a leathery citrus fruit as a souvenir or even modern, brightly coloured box urns.
It becomes clear that a box is more than just a shell. It is a fascinating testimony to the history of human culture and everyday life.
In addition to classic exhibits, the exhibition also offers interactive elements for the whole family. Visitors can test their knowledge in a box quiz or make colourful origami boxes.
