Haus der Kunst (House of art)
"Land" is a new sound work by Ukrainian multimedia artist Ihor Okuniev, commissioned for the Terrace Hall of the Haus der Kunst (House of art). "Land" is a haunting and atmospheric depiction of the destruction wrought in Ukraine since the invasion of the Russian army. Burnt forests, ruined houses and destroyed armoured vehicles dissolve into the surroundings as the land absorbs the traces of war. Since 1 March 2022, Okuniev has been involved in a volunteer organisation that travels to different regions of Ukraine to deliver essential supplies and help people rebuild their homes. In the process, he has witnessed the shattering devastation himself.
