The connection of metals to medals may seem trivial, but the origin and history of the development of these raw materials is unknown to many. They are essential for the production of sports equipment and of great importance for materials science research and development. Which countries do these raw materials come from, how are they mined? And what about recycling?
The special exhibition also deals with the technological development of sports equipment. Original sports equipment from 1972 is compared with selected current exhibits. Things get sporty on the lawn in front of the museum, where an interactive programme for children and adults takes place.
