In terms of sustainability and environmental protection, the utilisation of renewable raw materials is becoming increasingly important, also with regard to recycling and environmental compatibility. Wood is widely recognised as a building material, for the manufacture of furniture and everyday objects, as a raw material for art objects or as an energy source.

Wood is also an extremely versatile raw material that opens up an almost inexhaustible range of new uses. The special exhibition deals with the current use and further research into wood fibres as a raw material for many products that can be manufactured through mechanical, thermal or chemical changes.

Wood fibres are already widely used as insulating materials, for example for insulating roofs or walls, such as in prefabricated wooden houses.

The production of "liquid wood" "ABOFORM" and research into "transparent wood", which looks similar to frosted glass but does not splinter like glass, is extremely interesting. The latter application is still in the test phase and cannot yet be used for industrial production.
